  • There are no exclusions for pre-existing medical conditions

  • Provincial Medical Insurance must be in force for all persons enrolled in CAIP

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada has insurance coverage available for its members and athletes in good standing. The Canadian Athlete Insurance Program (CAIP) is available to all athletes. This program allows athletes to receive coverage for physiotherapy, massage therapy and chiropractor treatment. All treatments must occur in Canada to be eligible for potential reimbursement. WHAT COVERAGE IS AVAILABLE?

CAIP has become well recognized in providing the most comprehensive insurance protection for sport accident and "OVERUSE" injuries to Canada's athletes at all levels while "In Canada" and "Outside Canada". 

INSIDE CANADA INSURANCE

Insurance Policy - In Canada

Summary of Benefits

Provides insurance coverage for expenses incurred for various medical and therapy treament as a result of a sport related injury caused by accident while participating in a practice session, game or travelling directly to or from such practice session or game. Inside Canada insurance includes “OVERUSE” coverage, which has been unique to CAIP since the beginning and remains the most popular and sought after benefit amongst Canada’s athletes.  OVERUSE covers the athletes for chronic type injuries such as tendonitis that happen over a period of time as a result of repetitive activity. 

There is a choice of plans that are available: Bronze, Silver, Gold and 500 Plus.

GOLD ($440 per person per 12 months):

  • Chiropractor for overuse: $800 per year (20 treatments worth), with a maximum of $40 per treatment.

  • Physiotherapy, Athletic Therapy, Massage Therapy for overuse: $1500 per year (30 treatments), with a maximum of $50 per treatment.

  • Orthotic inserts for overuse – $500 annual maximum

SILVER ($270 per person per 12 months):

  • Chiropractor for overuse: $600 (15 treatments worth) per year, with a maximum of $40 per treatment.

  • Physiotherapy, Athletic Therapy, Massage Therapy for overuse: $1000 per year (20 treatments), with a maximum of $50 per treatment.

  • Orthotic inserts for overuse – $300 annual maximum

BRONZE ($125 per person for 12 months):

  • Chiropractor for overuse: $280 per year (7 treatments worth), with a maximum of $40 per treatment.

  • Physiotherapy, Athletic Therapy, Massage Therapy for overuse: $500 per year (10 treatments), with a maximum of $50 per treatment.

  • Orthotic inserts for overuse – $150 annual maximum

 

TRAVEL MEDICAL INSURANCE

Insurance Policy - Travel Medical Insurance

Summary of Benefits

Travel medical insurance is 24 hours a day insurance protection for emergency medical and hospital care, emergency dental treatment, evacuation, repatriation and family transportation & accomodation benefits as the result of an injury or sickness. CAIP travel medical insurance covers the athletes while they are participating in their respective sports. 
 
Travel medical coverage also includes The Travel Assistance Program, which provides international emergency assistance to CAIP members when traveling outside Canada/Province. This important insurance coverage can be purchased on a weekly per trip, individual annual plan (30 or 60 days), . 
 
Per Trip: $35 per week (7 days inclusive) or part thereof travel per eligible member
 
Individual Athlete Plan (IAP): $210 per year per eligible member, subject to a maximum of 30 consecutive days of travel. $350 per year per eligible member, subject to a maximum of 60 consecutive days of travel.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL CLAIM REPORT - Out of Canada Claims Only

Complete the following 8 steps carefully:

  1. Print off the appropriate claim form.

  2. Athlete completes Injury Section of form.

  3. A registered professional completes the “Attending Physician” section (page 2).  Your family doctor or any other Attending Physician can complete this section.  Also, please note that Registered Physiotherapists and Certified Athletic Therapists can complete the Attending Physician section for treatment for Physiotherapy, Athletic Therapy and/or Massage Therapy only. Chiropractors and Registered Massage Therapists cannot complete this section. If you receive Chiropractic treatment, an Attending Physician must complete this section first. Massage Therapy can be signed by a Registered Physiotherapists or Certified Athletic Therapist.

  1. Athlete pays for treatment and receives a receipt.

  2. Athlete fills out the following form, if it is your first claim. 

  3. Send claim form, consent form and original receipt(s) to the designated address provided on claim forms.
